AIMS

The institutional aims of ODEC are:

• Develop as leading centre of e-learning provider in the country for open and distance learning.
• Establish resourceful e-library (e-repository/e-resources) particularly for distance and online students and conventional system students in general.
• Ensure access and equity in higher education by running academic courses approved by TU in open and distance learning mode.
• Provide professional and non-academic courses as continuing education for the adults.
• Train education professionals (academic and non-academic) in e-learning, e-pedagogy, overall e-education and e-management.
• Generate new knowledge on open and distance education through research.
• Develop and use economically viable open and distance learning management system.
• Establish national and international relation with the institutions having similar goals to promote higher education.

OBJECTIVES

The institutional objectives of ODEC are:

• To establish a sustainable high quality ICT infrastructure and to develop leading e-learning center in the country for open and distance education.
• To prepare e-library (e-repository/e-resources) for distance and online learning in higher education.
• To ensure access and quality in higher education by running academic courses approved by TU through open and distance learning mode.
• To provide professional and non-academic courses as continuing education for the adults.
• To train professional (academic and non-academic) in e-learning, e-pedagogy and overall e-education. To conduct research, seminars, conferences in open and distance education related themes aiming to promote Open and Distance Education.
• To develop and use economically viable open and distance learning management system.
• To establish international relation with institutions having similar goals, objectives and programs.
